SmartWood Flooring Scotland is an independent, family-run flooring company specialising exclusively in hard surface flooring and wood floor renovation. Based in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, we supply and fit solid hardwood flooring, engineered wood flooring, luxury vinyl tile (LVT), and provide professional sanding and restoration services across Ayrshire and the wider west of Scotland, including Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Ayr.
The business is led by Alex, whose career in flooring began in 2005 working within his family’s flooring company while studying carpentry and joinery at college. Starting as a labourer, Alex developed his skills from the ground up, progressing to managing projects and delivering high-end installations. Along the way, he completed specialist training including screeding and Karndean installation courses, before spending time in Germany learning premium sanding technologies and advanced restoration techniques that now underpin the SmartWood standard.
In 2019, Alex founded SmartWood Flooring Scotland after relocating to North Ayrshire, bringing nearly two decades of hands-on experience, technical knowledge and attention to detail into a new, focused business. He is joined by Brandon, his nephew and former apprentice, who has been trained directly by Alex from day one, ensuring consistency, craftsmanship and pride in every project. The business is supported by Alex’s wife, Tahnee, who manages administration and logistics, keeping projects running smoothly from first enquiry through to completion.
